Semester-End Blogpost and Formal Assessment

Over the past few months I have learnt a lot about my abilities and have grown as a person. I think I deserve an A and a G for my work habits. I think this because I have always been on time for attendance and haven't been absent without a reason. I also always have my gym strip. I have improved in my fitness and this shows in my beep test results which are the following. On the first beep test I got 7.2 and was proud of myself because it wasn't much lower than my last beep test last year. That proved to me that the fitness activities that I learnt and did over the summer really helped keep me in shape and so did my bhangra team practices. On the second beep test I got 8.1 which was much better than the first. This has given me courage to think that I can improve. On the third beep test I got 8.6. The other results are:
Body Press: 13 / 14 / 15      Body Bridge: 80 / 91 / 102
T-Test: 15.8 / 15 / 14.5                       Sit and Reach: 5 / 5 / 5
Max Vertical: 30 / 35 /38                              Board: 9 / 8 / 7
I have always been enthusiastic towards whatever we do so that my enthusiasm can help my peers get involved. I also put in my best effort to get through fitness with a smile on my face to encourage my peers and support them through the fitness activity. I'm always prepared for PE with my gym strip, enthusiasm and a smile. I have learnt to pace myself even better than last year and this has helped me during fitness activities such as the pond run and the beep test. I go to my bhangra team practices and put my best effort to please my team and teacher. I also try to go to the gym once a day except for the days that I have lots of homework and on those days I do floor exercises at home. I eat lots of fruits and vegetables during the day. I also try to make my meals balanced with at least one thing from each food group. This helps keep my energy level up and lets me perform at my best for PE, bhangra practices and at school studies. I show leadership by encouraging my peers and being a role model by doing PE with a smile on my face.  I prevent injuries in my class by being aware about who is around me all the time and being careful about how my actions could affect the people around me. If anything should happen I would first ask someone to stay with the person who is injuried and I would go to the closest teacher and tell them about the situation. During the class I have volunteered to demonstrate the game with the hula hoop and bean bags and to put equipment away. Something I enjoyed in the course so far is how our class has had a lot of time to interact with the students in other classes but the thing I would like to see changed is that our class should do more activities with just our class so we can learn a lot more about our class and one another's names, since most people don't know them. My favourite types of fitness activities are the community run, pond run, loco locomotive, 30 - 30, and circuit. There are no limitations that I think I have in gym class except for my mental strength, which I'm trying to strengthen. My goals for this year are: to make more friends in this class and in other classes, to have more confidence in myself, to improve my fitness levels, strengthen my mental strength and to join the school badminton team since last year there wasn't one because of the lack of coaches. So far I have achieved some of my goals from the beginning of the year and now I know that these goals will also be achieved by the end of the year if I can keep the promises I made myself.

  1. Your blog is exemplary Gagan and very thorough. You've included a nice balance of aspects (both from in and out of school) that round out a complete portrait of your 'physical education'. For example, I didn't know that you were a dancer!

Your goals are very nobel as well and it is refreshing to hear that they extend far beyond the physical realm to include; social, emotional, mental and spiritual. Combine that with your conscientious diet and I'd say that you have a very comprehensive and mature understanding of health.

I wish you well in your plight to play Sulli badminton this spring! Thanks for all that you bring to make our class better and brighter Gagan.
