Gagan's Active Learning Blog #1

This is my first PE blog so I'm not quite sure where to start. I think I'll start with how last year went. At the beginning of last year I wasn't sure what to expect even through my grade 7 teacher tried to prepare us. On the first fitness day I was very tired at the end because I had never experienced anything like it in elementary school. That is because in elementary school all you do is play games during PE. Slowly, I got used to the fitness activities and improved in my fitness. At the beginning of this year, I made a promise to myself to try even harder than last year and to improve my fitness by using some of the things I learned last year. Like pacing myself on runs, how to keep myself and others motivated etc. We have done the beep test twice already and I have seen some improvement. On the first beep test I got 7.3 and on the second I got 8.1. I'm hoping and aiming to get higher next time. As for my interaction with my peers, I feel that it is great by showing them around and through activities and also helping them when they need help. I also encourage and motivate them to do the best they can do during fitness and other activities and by doing so I motivate myself, too. I am always on time and in proper gym strip so that I'm always ready to go when we start. For my leadership, I feel that I'm a good leader because I help and support my peers when they need it. I also try to keep them motivated and encouraged during activities especially when they are about to give up on themselves. I try not to give up on myself either because it not fair to tell my peers to do something that I don't do myself. My skill development has improved because now I use the information and tips from last year to help me this year during fitness and other activities. My commitment to extra-curricular activities is very good because I'm dedicated towards my bhangra as I try to practice almost every day. I'm also interested in badminton and I have asked my parents to help me find and join a team or club. I also try to get at least one hour of some sort of exercise every day, such as walking, biking, going to the gym etc. My dietary choices are good because I try to eat healthy dishes, fruits and vegetables and a balanced diet. Healthy food keeps me healthy and full of energy for a long time. This helps with performance because I can perform well for a long time. I try to volunteer as often as I can. I like to volunteer at the food bank and at festivals and celebrations. The things I like about PE are that we learn new ways to exercise and games to play. Also how we, the grade 9's, get an opportunity to be leaders and learn what it's like to be a leader. One thing I would like to see changed is to have more time to interact with each other such as games that involve the whole class playing at once. Lastly, I want to talk about my personal goals and plans. My personal goals and plans are to become a stronger leader, build up my courage, eat healthier and improve my fitness. I want to make this year the best year in PE so far by doing the things I have promised and planned for myself.
